What to use for verification codes instead

We have no Armenia number inventory at all, so there is no Armenia number here that could receive a text. A US or UK number receives SMS verification codes from most services and works from anywhere in the world — you do not need to be in that country.

Canada, Australia, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, Belgium, Brazil, Ireland, Lithuania, South Africa, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands also support SMS.

Armenian mobile numbers begin with 09 domestically — VivaCell-MTS runs on 091 and 093, Beeline on 094 and 096, and Ucom on 041 and 043 ranges. From abroad, replace the leading zero with +374. Yerevan landlines use area code 10; Gyumri is 312; Vanadzor is 322. Fixed lines are still meaningfully present in offices and older Yerevan households, and a call to a Yerevan landline is typically cheaper than dialing a mobile. The coverage picture outside Yerevan is patchy in some directions — the gorge-cut terrain of northern and southern Armenia can interrupt signal abruptly, so don't interpret a dropped call as disinterest. Ucom has been building out the faster data network and its voice coverage has improved, but the operator you're dialing matters in the provinces.

Timing and Cost Tips for Armenia (Yerevan, Gyumri, Vanadzor)

Armenia runs at UTC+4 with no daylight saving. Yerevan business hours generally follow a 9 AM to 6 PM pattern, and given the time difference, callers from Western Europe or the US East Coast need to plan: midday in Yerevan is 8 AM in London and 3 AM in New York. Morning calls from the Gulf or Central Asia align naturally. Personal calls land well in evenings between 7 and 10 PM Yerevan time, when families are home. Diaspora communities in Russia, France, and the US maintain strong ties, and many Armenian households are accustomed to international calls. Independence Day on September 21 is a genuine national holiday; the first half of January covers both the Orthodox New Year and Christmas, emptying offices for an extended stretch. Locking in calls for early October or mid-November — when none of that applies — gives the cleanest window.
